Volunteer Opportunities at SOAR Immigration Legal Services
SOAR Immigration Legal Services depends on the assistance of volunteers to serve the needs of our clients.
Here are some ways that you can get involved:
-
- Citizenship Instructor: Teach Citizenship Classes to immigrants interested in becoming U.S. Citizens. Please contact Education Coordinator Jennica Stephenson jstephenson@emoregon.org.
- Interpreter/Translator: Provide translation of documents and interpretation for clients during appointments and interviews with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.
- Law Students: Conduct research, interview clients and assist with case management.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to attorneys and accredited representatives.
- Pro Bono Attorney: Provide pro bono legal services to SOAR’s low income clients. Please contact Pro Bono and Training Counsel Bryan McGowan bmcgowan@emoregon.org.
- Psychological Evaluation Practitioner: Are you a licensed mental health clinician based in the Portland area? Are you interested in performing immigration psychological evaluations on a FREE or REDUCED scale for SOAR Legal’s Asylum, U-Visa, and VAWA clients? Please contact Emily Grablutz with your interest and experience. If you are new to immigration psychological evaluations, IMPACT Immigration is a local nonprofit that offers comprehensive training options to learn to add this service to your practice: impactimmigration.org/training/national-training.
Please email Emily Grablutz with any questions.
